SONNY BOY JARO wins WBC Flyweight Championship Belt



The Philippines now has a total of 6 world title as Sonny Boy Jaro claimed the WBC Flyweight Championship belt in the expense of the recently named "Fighter of the Decade" by the WBC. 

The veteran WBC champion Pongsaklek Wonjongkam was stunned by the hard hitting puches that was thrown by Jaro as he floored the Champion from the opening bell , then again in the third round , and finally on the sixth round where the bout was finally stopped .

The win of Jaro was already considered as the biggest upset of the year since the Thai-boxer Pongsaklek Wonjongkam was ranked 8th for pound for pound by the Ring magazine and was recently hailed as the Fighter of the Decade who bested Manny Pacquiao,Floyd Mayweather,Klitschko Brothers and Sergio Martinez for the recognition.

A solid puncher the 29 year old Jaro is the reigning IBF Pan Pacific flyweight interim champion after having won the title with a 4th round TKO over Ric Megrino on June 18, 2011. He has a record of 32-10-5 with 22 knockouts while the 34 year old Pongsaklek has a record of 83-3- 2 with 44 knockouts. 

Jaro now joins the elite cast of Manny Pacquiao,Nonito Donaire,Brian Villoria,Jonriel Casimero,Denver Cuello as the World Boxing Champions of the Philippines.
